Position Summary:
Function as a unit educator, teacher, preceptor in neurodiagnostic technology. Develop clinical educational curriculum to train students for a variety of neurodiagnostic procedures. Perform neurodiagnostic testing procedures approximately 50% clinical component. Develop, train and implement department competencies. Develop and organize mentoring program for trainees, on-going in-service, continuing education and training for all staff. Assist employees with goal attainments as it relates to professional development. Ensure adherence to Hospitals and departmental policies, procedures and guidelines. Patient care assignment may include neonate, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric age groups.

Detailed responsibilities:
* INSTRUCTION - Implement educational curricula utilizing adult learning principles to meet goals and objectives; teach relivant content; formulate the teaching outlines, coordinate educational initiatives and activities; ensure safety and comfort and promote positive learning; integrate ethics in all areas of practice
* TRAINING - Plan, organize, administer, conduct and evaluate training and educational programs for employees; formulate organization-wide educational and training policies and practices
* PATIENT CARE - Maintain skills and complete patient testing procedures to include routine EEG Testing, Long Term Epilepsy Monitoring; Evoked Potential testing and IntraoperativeNeural Monitoring
* EDUCATION - Observe, organize and direct students in performing daily academic/clinical activities
* REPORTS - Prepare and maintain a variety of reports; analyze and interpret reports as required; prepare, present and disseminate information to professional individuals, groups and organizations
* RESOURCES - Serve as an educational resource and role model for clinical and non-clinical staff for related issues as appropriate
* EQUIPMENT & SUPPLIES - Assist with care and maintenance of department equipment and supplies
* DATA ENTRY - Enter various data into computer; verify data, make corrections and ensure accuracy; maintain a variety of patient logs to include archiving of EEG and EP data
* OTHER - Perform other duties as assigned
* DEVELOPMENT - Enhance professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, reading current literature, attending in-services, meetings and workshops
* PATIENT SAFETY 1 - Follow patient safety-related policies, procedures and protocols
* PATIENT SAFETY 2 - Demonstrate proactive approach to patient safety by seeking opportunities to improve patient safety through questioning of current policies and processes
* PATIENT SAFETY 3 - Identify and report/correct environmental conditions and/or situations that may put a patient at undue risk
* PATIENT SAFETY 4 - Report potential or actual patient safety concerns, medical errors and/or near misses in a timely manner
* PATIENT SAFETY 5 - Encourage patients to actively participate in their own care by asking questions and reporting treatment or situations that they don't understand or may "not seem right"
* EDUCATION PLAN - Identify educational needs and issues of staff; analyze issues, trends, and supporting evidence to determine needs for education and qaulity enhancements
* EDUCATION PLAN - Identify desired outcomes; in collaboration with others, develop instructional program(s) that prescribes education curricula, strategies, alternatives, and resources; take into account quality indicators and policies, procedures, guidelines; integrate research findings into plan
* OUTCOMES - Establish and monitor accurate outcomes for educational programs as developed; revise these programs when deemed necessary by program supervisor or supervisor
* COLLABORATION - Establish collegial partnerships with other professionals, leaders, stakeholders, and others who contribute to the development of peers, staff, students, colleagues, and others; collaborate with individuals and groups to facilitate practice and promote quality outcomes; serve as a consultant and educational resource

* CPR for Healthcare/BLS Prov or Prof Rescuers w/in 30 days
* ABRET National Registration in EEG Technology
Nonessential:
* Neurophysiologic Interop Monitoring Cert or IONM equivalent
* ABRET cert in Long Term EEG Monitoring (CLTM)
* Natl Reg in 2 of ABRET: EEG Tech, Evoked Potential, CLTM

Physical Conditions:
Medium Work: Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.

* Sig Haz: Physical risk/injuries due to combative patients
* Med Haz: Mod exposure to chemicals/dangerous equip/materials
* May be required or is required to perform on-call duties
* May work rotating shifts, holidays and weekends
* Tuberculosis testing is completed upon hire and additionally as required
