Position Summary:
Oversee the continuous process improvement of revenue initiatives for UNM Health Systems. Lead revenue enhancement strategies utilizing key internal data repositories. Coordinate and collaborate with leadership throughout UNM Health Systems to ensure timely resolution to revenue cycle issues. Provide input and leadership to UNM Health Systems initiatives and processes as related to the revenue cycle. Track revenue cycle metrics and associated benchmarks to identify and replicate best practice improvement opportunities. Ensure adherence to Hospitals and departmental policies and procedures. No patient care assignment.
Detailed responsibilities:
* REVENUE CYCLE PLAN - Oversee the development and implementation of UNM Hospitals revenue initiatives, including the management, revision, and on-going monitoring of revenue cycle metrics; provide leadership and organization structure for accomplishing realistic, long-term, sustainable, revenue improvements
* TRENDS - Proactively work to identify revenue-related risks, issues, and trends; analyze and communicate issues to affected areas, including senior management; develop and present associated solutions and participate in the decision-making process as appropriate
* COMMUNICATION - Provide clear channels of communication, delegation, and accountability in each area to facilitate effective problem solving, supervision, and ongoing enhancement of the revenue cycle
* GOALS AND PLANS - Participate in the development of long range goals and strategic plans for assigned area(s)
* ANALYSIS - Manage the revenue cycle analysis process, utilizing data from cost reports, decision support, patient accounting, and other appropriate data sources
* PROCESS IMPROVEMENT - Identify training requirements relative to revenue initiatives; ensure the development and implementation of training programs
* ACCOUNTABILITY - Provide the appropriate reporting structure, environment, and oversight to ensure productivity, quality, customer service, and well being of the department
* SUPERVISION - Select, train, orient, supervise, evaluate, develop and mentor assigned staff
* ADVISE - Review business plans, contracts and analyses and make recommendations to management regarding revenue cycle
* REPRESENTATIVE - Represent UNM HSC, including UNM Hospitals and the School of Medicine, on clinical operations teams and in meetings where revenue expertise is required
* COLLABORATION - Collaborate with both clinical and non-clinical areas associated with the revenue cycle function, including to finance, quality, nursing, legal, information technology, etc; coordinate with external vendors and with other Health Sciences Center leadership including School of Medicine, University Physicians Associates, and the Cancer Research and Treatment Center
* SUPPORT - Provide support and analysis as requested by the CFO
