The UNMH Psychiatric team is seeking a highly motivated and innovative leader to manage the team of Advanced Practice Providers (APPs) on the Psychiatric service line. Job expectations include but are not limited to: Rounding on each provider at regular intervals. Meeting with dyad leaders to ensure clinical expectations are met. Timecard management and approvals. Personal clinical activity within the service line is preferred or can be outside of it as part of your FTE. Working closely with the Director and other APP managers. Required Qualifications: Certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP). Proven leadership experience in a healthcare setting. Strong organizational and communication skills. Preferred Skills: Experience in managing a team of healthcare providers. Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams. Commitment to continuous improvement and innovation in patient care.

Position Summary:
Direct and coordinate the clinical and management activities of one or more unit (s) in Behavioral Health in order to provide quality patient care. Actively supports programs and services that are in line with long-range strategic objectives. Support education and research in conjunction with Unit Medical Director. Ensure adherence to Hospitals and departmental policies and procedures. Patient care assignment may include neonate, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric age groups.

Detailed responsibilities:
* SUPERVISION - Plan, coordinate and direct activities of supervisory, technical professional and support staff; conduct staff meetings
* BUDGET - Develop and administer the division's annual budget; monitor and approve expenditures
* SUPERVISION - Direct APRNs, Physician Assistants and/or Psychologists, Clinical Counselors and Optometrists in accordance with Hospitals Policies and Procedures
* MANAGE - Interview applicants, hire, train, supervise, evaluate, counsel, discipline and terminate departmental personnel
* STANDARDS - Establish specific standards and objectives for clinical departments; ensure implementation of and compliance with standards, objectives and operating policies and procedures
* LIAISON - Act as liaison as necessary between physicians, staff, patients, families, and other departments to promote and facilitate communication, problem solving, decision-making, crisis intervention, resource utilization, and conflict management
* RECORDS - Maintain departmental reports and records; collect statistical data for administrative and regulatory purposes
* COMMITTEES AND MEETINGS - Attend technical and administrative meetings; participate in committee functions; participate in hospital-wide activities and committees within the scope of this position or as directed
* PATIENT CARE - Assess, diagnose and develop treatment plans; implement treatment, follow-up and evaluate patient within the scope of practice protocols as outlined by state statute
* PATIENT CARE - Evaluate and revise intervention care/treatment plan with patient and family as necessary to achieve improved health
* PATIENT CARE - Provide education for patients and/or families about preventative care, medical issues and use of the prescribed medical treatment
* DOCUMENTATION - Provide accurate documentation of patient care, document orders, directives, procedures and patient responses in the medical record and communicate them to other members of the health care team; maintain accurate, legible and confidential records
* PATIENT CARE - Work as a team member with medical/nursing/counseling staff to provide comprehensive care and promote continuity of care
* EDUCATION - Guide, teach, support and serve as a clinical resource nursing and medical staff
* RESEARCH - Support research by conducting or participating in research studies; incorporate findings in clinical practice
* EDUCATION - Provide and coordinate clinical learning experience for staff; ensure patient education
* DEVELOPMENT - Enhance professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, reading current literature, attending in-services, meetings and workshops
* PATIENT SAFETY 1 - Follow patient safety-related policies, procedures and protocols
* PATIENT SAFETY 2 - Demonstrate proactive approach to patient safety by seeking opportunities to improve patient safety through questioning of current policies and processes
* PATIENT SAFETY 3 - Identify and report/correct environmental conditions and/or situations that may put a patient at undue risk
* PATIENT SAFETY 4 - Report potential or actual patient safety concerns, medical errors and/or near misses in a timely manner
* PATIENT SAFETY 5 - Encourage patients to actively participate in their own care by asking questions and reporting treatment or situations that they don't understand or may "not seem right"

Experience:

1 year psychiatric experience Completion of the Hospitals approved training program with in six months of assignment

Nonessential:
Bilingual English, Spanish, Keres, Tewa, Tiwa, Towa, Zuni, or Navajo 3 years behavioral health field

Credentials:
Essential:
* CPR for Healthcare/BLS Prov or Prof Rescuers w/in 30 days
* NM Advanced Practice Nurse License (CNP, CNS, CRNA)

Physical Conditions:
Medium Work: Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.
