DIRECTOR AMBULATORY PROVIDERS
The Director of Ambulatory Advanced Practice Providers (APPs) of Specialty is responsible for the leadership, strategic development, and operational oversight of APPs at UNMH. This position ensures high-quality, patient-centered care and operational efficiency, while collaborating with Medical Directors, Unit Directors and APP Directors in specialty clinics. The Director will monitor clinical performance metrics, quality outcomes, and patient satisfaction specific to APP provided care. Collaborate on workflow, patient access strategies, and schedule optimization for APPs. Develop and oversee onboarding, training, mentoring and continued competency. Foster a culture of professional development and opportunities for specialty growth. Support APPs in achieving certification, licensure, credentialing, and continuing education requirements. Collaborate with Credentialing, HR, Risk, and Compliance departments to ensure APP compliance. Conduct APP performance evaluation with metrics that align with UNMH goals. Manage APP-related budgets, productivity expectations, and staffing models in collaboration with clinic leadership. Utilize data to drive decision-making and performance improvement. Support budgeting and resource planning for APP services. The qualifications for this position includes board certification as an APRN or PA, an active and unrestricted license to practice, current BLS certification, and a minimum of 5 years of clinical experience with 3 years in a leadership or supervisory role.

Position Summary:
Direct and coordinate the clinical and management activities of one or more unit (s) in order to provide quality patient care. Actively supports programs and services that are in line with long-range strategic objectives. Support education and research. Ensure adherence to Hospitals and departmental policies and procedures. Patient care assignment may include neonate, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric age groups.
Detailed responsibilities:
* PATIENT SAFETY 1 - Follow patient safety-related policies, procedures and protocols
* SUPERVISION - Develop efficient organizational structure. Supervise employees and select, terminate, train, educate, correct deficiencies, perform appraisals, issue discipline, counsel, schedule work assignments; encourage staff teamwork and growth initiatives
* DEVELOPMENT - Enhance professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, reading current literature, attending in-services, meetings and workshops
* PATIENT SAFETY 2 - Demonstrate proactive approach to patient safety by seeking opportunities to improve patient safety through questioning of current policies and processes
* EDUCATION - Provide and coordinate clinical learning experience for staff; ensure patient education
* COMMITTEES AND MEETINGS - Attend technical and administrative meetings; participate in committee functions; participate in hospital-wide activities and committees within the scope of this position or as directed
* PATIENT SAFETY 3 - Identify and report/correct environmental conditions and/or situations that may put a patient at undue risk
* PATIENT SAFETY 4 - Report potential or actual patient safety concerns, medical errors and/or near misses in a timely manner
* LIAISON - Act as liaison as necessary between physicians, staff, patients, families, and other departments to promote and facilitate communication, problem solving, decision-making, crisis intervention, resource utilization, and conflict management
* PATIENT SAFETY 5 - Encourage patients to actively participate in their own care by asking questions and reporting treatment or situations that they don't understand or may "not seem right"
* BUDGET - Develop and administer the division's annual budget; monitor and approve expenditures
* SUPERVISION - Direct APRNs, Physician Assistants and/or Psychologists, Clinical Counselors and Optometrists in accordance with Hospitals Policies and Procedures
* STANDARDS - Establish specific standards and objectives for clinical departments; ensure implementation of and compliance with standards, objectives and operating policies and procedures
* PATIENT CARE - Assess, diagnose and develop treatment plans; implement treatment, follow-up and evaluate patient within the scope of practice protocols as outlined by state statute
* PATIENT CARE - Evaluate and revise intervention care/treatment plan with patient and family as necessary to achieve improved health
* PATIENT CARE - Provide education for patients and/or families about preventative care, medical issues and use of the prescribed medical treatment
* DOCUMENTATION - Provide accurate documentation of patient care, document orders, directives, procedures and patient responses in the medical record and communicate them to other members of the health care team; maintain accurate, legible and confidential records
* PATIENT CARE - Work as a team member with medical/nursing/counseling staff to provide comprehensive care and promote continuity of care
* EDUCATION - Guide, teach, support and serve as a clinical resource nursing and medical staff
* RESEARCH - Support research by conducting or participating in research studies; incorporate findings in clinical practice
* PATIENT CENTERED MED - Adhere to and promote the core expectations of the Patient Centered Medical Home or Patient Centered Specialty Practice as applicable
* RECORDS - Maintain departmental reports and records; collect statistical data for administrative and regulatory purposes

* CPR for Healthcare/BLS Prov or Prof Rescuers w/in 30 days
* ACLS or PALS (as applicable) within 30 days of hire
* Licensed as NM APRN or PA w/cert or Cert Nurse Midwife
Physical Conditions:
Medium Work: Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.
