Position Summary:
Manages and oversees activities within the Pharmacy. Assign programs, activities and operations. Prepares and presents in-service educational programs to medical and pharmacy staff. Ensure adherence to Hospitals and departmental policies and procedures. Patient care assignment may include neonate, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric age groups.
Detailed responsibilities:
* SUPERVISION - Develop efficient organizational structure. Supervise employees and select, terminate, train, educate, correct deficiencies, perform appraisals, issue discipline, counsel, schedule work assignments; encourage staff teamwork and growth initiatives
* QUALITY - Manage and participate in the development and implementation of goals, objectives, policies and procedures to ensure continued quality of care
* QUALITY - Monitor and evaluate the efficiency of department programs and activities; identifies and recommends areas of improvement
* PROJECTS - Establish and monitor investigational drug projects
* SUPPLY - Maintain invoices and purchase orders; ensure prompt payment by utilizing discount offers
* REPORTS - Prepare and maintain a variety of reports; analyze and interpret reports as required; identify and recommend areas of improvement through data research and statistical analysis
* FINANCE - Effective financial and analytical skills, including ability to develop and monitor budgets, monitor expenses, control inventory, and ensure financial performanceFINANCE - Effective financial and analytical skills, including ability to develop and monitor budgets, monitor expenses, control inventory, and ensure financial performance
* PATIENT SERVICES - Ensure pharmacy services are provided in a timely manner consistent with patient needs
* PATIENT SERVICES - Staffing expectations for direct care/frontline teams
* COORDINATION - Coordinate pharmaceutical services functions within pharmacy to include drug distribution, purchasing and procurement activities in a cost-effective manner
* PATIENT CARE - Coordinate and monitor clinical pharmacy programs to include Medication Usage Evaluation (MUE) programs
* PATIENT CARE - Participate in compounding and dispensing functions as needed
* PATIENT CARE - Manage formulary and non-formulary drug approvals and criteria enforcement
* INVENTORY - Assure the pharmacy inventories are inspected routinely to ensure that drugs which are outdated and/or have lost their potency are removed from stock and replaced
* DOCUMENTATION - Prepare monographs for drugs going the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee
* SUPERVISION - Assume proper responsibilities for pharmacy interns and other clinical clerkship rotations for pharmacy learners
* LIAISON - Serve as liaison for assigned department; coordinate activities in collaboration with other staff professionals, divisions, departments and organizations; may chair steering committees
* DEVELOPMENT - Enhance professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, reading current literature, attending in-services, meetings and workshops
* PATIENT SAFETY 1 - Follow patient safety-related policies, procedures and protocols
* PATIENT SAFETY 2 - Demonstrate proactive approach to patient safety by seeking opportunities to improve patient safety through questioning of current policies and processes
* PATIENT SAFETY 3 - Identify and report/correct environmental conditions and/or situations that may put a patient at undue risk
* PATIENT SAFETY 4 - Report potential or actual patient safety concerns, medical errors and/or near misses in a timely manner
* PATIENT SAFETY 5 - Encourage patients to actively participate in their own care by asking questions and reporting treatment or situations that they don't understand or may "not seem right"

Credentials:
Essential:
* CPR for Healthcare/BLS Prov or Prof Rescuers w/in 30 days
* Pharmacist License in New Mexico
Physical Conditions:
Medium Work: Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.
