Nursing at UNMH
Registered Nurse
As the only Level 1 Trauma Center in the state, we offer our nurses a range of opportunities you simply can’t find anywhere else. You’ll benefit from the ability to work with a wide array of disciplines and have an opportunity for unique experiences in a supportive academic medical center environment. Alongside a dedicated community of health care professionals, you’ll care for a diverse patient population and be part of a team that’s continually working to improve patient health and nursing practice.
Nurse Residency
In our nurse residency program, you’ll have the resources, mentorship and ongoing education to do what you love. As the only Level 1 Trauma Center in the state, we offer our nurses a range of opportunities you simply can’t find anywhere else. Our program follows a curriculum created in partnership with the AACN and Vizient—considered the gold standard curriculum for all residency programs nationally. Your residency includes:
- Clinical area orientation
- Monthly seminars that are a hybrid of lectures and skills
- Experience within a multidisciplinary health care system
- Mentorship and support from specifically trained new graduate nurse mentors
Clinical Advancement Program (CAP)
CAP offers a path to increase your knowledge, skills and base pay. You’ll focus on professional accountability and competence, educational growth, practice excellence and research use and generation.
Program Tiers
Level 1
$2.00/hr over base pay
Level 2
Associates Degree in Nursing
$4.00/hr over base pay
Level 3
Nationally approved nursing certification
OR
Bachelors in Nursing or in school for BSN OR healthcare related bachelor’s degree (Three-year time limit, one time)
$6.00/hr over base pay
Level 4
Nationally approved nursing certification
AND
Bachelors in Nursing or in school for BSN OR healthcare related bachelor’s degree (Three-year time limit, one time)
$7.00/hr over base pay
Level 5
Masters in Nursing or in school for MSN OR healthcare related masters degree or in DNP program or healthcare related PhD program (Three-year time limit, one time)
AND
One pertinent EBP project annually approved by area Nurse Executive
$8.00/hr over base pay
Disclaimer: The compensation increase shall be up to $8.00 per hour based on the CAP level, however will not exceed the maximum of the pay range for the job.
