Position Summary:
Responsible for job assignments on all shifts, scheduling staff, disciplinary counseling and actions. Monitor all sterilizer activity, and check for accuracy of records and job performance. Assist manager where needed, rotating shifts when needed. Ensure adherence to Hospital sand departmental policies and procedures. No patient care assignment.
Detailed responsibilities:
* SUPERVISION - Manage the operational functions of the department
* SUPERVISION - Develop efficient organizational structure. Supervise employees and select, terminate, train, educate, correct deficiencies, perform appraisals, issue discipline, counsel, schedule work assignments; encourage staff teamwork and growth initiatives
* SUPERVISION - Ensure all Hospitals policies and procedures are in effect within the department
* ENVIRONMENT - Ensure sterile integrity and infection control procedures are performed to meet TJC and American Association for Medical Instrumentation Standards (AAMI) standards
* STERILE PROCESSING - Coordinate with the Operating Room to assure the instruments needed for morning surgery are sterilized
* REPORTS - Ensure that shift reports are completed and information is communicated between shifts orally and in writing
* DEVELOPMENT - Enhance professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, reading current literature, attending in-services, meetings and workshops

* Sterile Processing Certification or Equivelant
Credential equivalent experience:
Essential:
* Equivelant certificate is limited to only former military or va experience or certificates.
Physical Conditions:
Heavy Work: Exerting 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 25 to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or 10 to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects or people. Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Medium Work.

* May perform subordinate tasks in high census/vol
