Dynamic, outpatient opportunity at New Mexico’s only Level 1 trauma center and the state’s premier teaching hospital. You will perform clerical work, maintenance tasks, and assist with patient care while working with a group of highly skilled outpatient occupational and physical therapists. This is to cover the Specialty clinics located in various location, including the Comprehensive Movement Disorder Clinic, Senior Health Clinic, Pelvic Floor Physical therapy located at Eubank Women's Health Center, and Clinical Neuroscience Center within the hospital. Traveling between clinics is required.

Receive 17% Weekday Nights, 26% Weekend Nights and 15% Weekend Day shift differentials

Position Summary:
Assist physical therapists, physical therapist assistants, occupational therapists, occupational therapist assistants, and speech-language pathologists with therapy services to pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric age groups. Patient care assignment may include assisting with wound management, equipment fitting and fabrication, therapy interventions requiring the need for additional support, or the provision of non-skilled/non-billable services that are within competence level and which follow state regulations for each licensed group (20%). Clerical assignment may include data collection and entry, assisting frontline with patient calls and scheduling, communication with providers and care management, and ordering, stocking, and inventory of supplies (40%). Perform maintenance tasks such as cleaning and monitoring temperature logs for compliance (40%). Ensure adherence to Hospitals and departmental policies and procedures. Patient care assignment may include Neonate, Pediatric, Adolescent, Adult and Geriatric age groups..

Detailed responsibilities:
* PATIENT SAFETY 1 - Follow patient safety-related policies, procedures and protocols
* PATIENT SAFETY 2 - Demonstrate proactive approach to patient safety by seeking opportunities to improve patient safety through questioning of current policies and processes
* PATIENT SAFETY 3 - Identify and report/correct environmental conditions and/or situations that may put a patient at undue risk
* PATIENT SAFETY 4 - Report potential or actual patient safety concerns, medical errors and/or near misses in a timely manner
* PATIENT SAFETY 5 - Encourage patients to actively participate in their own care by asking questions and reporting treatment or situations that they don't understand or may "not seem right"
* ADMINISTRATION - Assist in the collection and documentation of patient information into the electronic medical record; maintain patient charts and other documentation as required in accordance with Hospital and departmental procedures and standards
* ADMINISTRATION - Ability to utilize multiple computer programs including Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, Cerner EMR, and TigerConnect
* ADMINISTRATION - Order equipment and supplies through Lawson as directed by supervisor; communicate with vendors to obtain quotes; track fulfillment status and backorders
* ADMINISTRATION – Mail and prepare correspondence, prepare documents to be scanned into the medical record, scan documents to the medical record, assist with scheduling patients and faxing documents
* CLEANING - Help maintain safe and cleanly environment for patients and therapists by cleaning items used by patients, keeping areas free of clutter, and keeping equipment and floors clean
* COMMUNICATION- Communicate with extradepartmental personnel which may include providers, care management, nursing staff, or other members of the care team to facilitate highly coordinated patient care via Cerner Millenium Applications, TigerConnect, and other communication methods
* COMPLIANCE – Maintain clinic cleaning and temperature logs, follow equipment/machine cleaning schedules, perform environmental scan
* COST CONTROL - Utilize parts and supplies in a manner that maximizes efficient and cost-effective utilization of resources
* CUSTOMER SERVICE – Provide information and assistance to internal and external customers; provide and ensure quality service and customer satisfaction; coordinate non-patient care activities
* DATA ENTRY – Enter requested data into computers, verify data, make corrections as needed, and ensure accuracy to assist with process improvement projects or other clinic data collection needs
* EQUIPMENT - Maintain a sanitary work area to include patient care rooms, equipment and instruments; report equipment malfunctions
* FACILITIES- Assist in care and maintenance of department facilities
* FRONTLINE ASSISTANCE - Occasionally staff the front desk to assist with patient check in and check out, call patients to help with scheduling or patient reminder calls and/or to relaying information to clinical or non-clinical staff
* ORIENTATION - Train new employees in departmental procedures; assist in department volunteer orientation
* PATIENT CARE - Demonstrate competence in patient care delivery according to department guidelines for support staff by assisting therapists with patient treatment activities as directed by supervising therapist in a timely and accurate manner; help prepare patient areas for treatment sessions
* PATIENT CARE - Take and/or record vital signs to include temperature, pulse, respiration, oxygen saturation, weight, height and, blood pressure
* SUPPLIES- Assist with inventory management of specialty supplies including appropriate billing of equipment; assist therapists with obtaining custom orders; maintain pyxis inventory in areas with pyxis machines
* TRAINING - Attend in-service educational programs; attend staff meetings
* CLEAN TECHNIQUE – Learn and demonstrate clean and aseptic technique practices, to include: opening sterile supplies and instruments, clean room set-up, assist with patient preparation including dressing removal, peri-wound and basic wound cleansing
* FABRICATION - Assist in splinting patients under supervision of physical or occupational therapist; assist in fabrication of custom items related to patient care, which may include sewing
* PATIENT CARE- Assist with setting up interpreter services and preparing patients for treatment sessions

* CPR for Healthcare/BLS Prov or Prof Rescuers w/in 30 days

Physical Conditions:
Heavy Work: Exerting 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 25 to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or 10 to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects or people. Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Medium Work.
