Postdoctoral position opens in September 2023 but Postdoctoral interviews happen now nation-wide to fill the 2023-2024 position. This position is is for Postdocotoral Fellow to complete a one year Psychology postdocoral fellowship at the ASAP program. Psychologist must be a recent graduate and have completed a year-long psychology internship.

Position Summary:
Post Doctoral Fellow position. Under the supervision of one or more Clinical Psychologists, provide full psychological assessment, diagnosis, and therapy, case management services, referral, and follow-up for acute, chronic, or moderately disturbed mentally ill clients and/or patients, as part of a pre-licensure program required to attain fully licensed status as a Clinical Psychologist in New Mexico. Clinical activities will occur in integrated behavioral health settings including primary medical care or specialty medical (i.e. Pain, Cardiac, Transplant) care settings. The fellow’s time will be divided between direct patient care, administrative and support activities, and supervision and training activities. Ensure adherence to Hospital and departmental policies and procedures. Patient care assignment may include; Neonate, Pediatric, Adolescent, Adult and Geriatric age groups.
Detailed responsibilities:
* PATIENT SAFETY 1 - Follow patient safety-related policies, procedures and protocols
* PATIENT SAFETY 2 - Demonstrate proactive approach to patient safety by seeking opportunities to improve patient safety through questioning of current policies and processes
* PATIENT SAFETY 3 - Identify and report/correct environmental conditions and/or situations that may put a patient at undue risk
* PATIENT SAFETY 4 - Report potential or actual patient safety concerns, medical errors and/or near misses in a timely manner
* PATIENT SAFETY 5 - Encourage patients to actively participate in their own care by asking questions and reporting treatment or situations that they don't understand or may "not seem right"
* PATIENT CARE - Diagnose or evaluate mental and emotional disorders of individuals and administer programs of treatment; interview patients in clinics, hospitals, and other settings and study medical and social case histories
* PATIENT CARE - Observe patients in various situations; select, administer, and interpret intelligence, personality, or other psychological tests to diagnose disorders and formulate plans of treatment
* CONSULTATION - Provide consultation to other mental health professionals with regard to test results
* PATIENT CARE - Treat psychological disorders to effect improved adjustments utilizing various psychological techniques; select appropriate treatment approach and plans frequency, intensity, and duration of individual, group, and family therapies
* PATIENT CARE - Assess patient progress and modifies treatment programs accordingly; communicate with and counsel family members as appropriate
* PATIENT CARE - Document therapy in accordance with policies and procedures regarding medical records; implement and adhere to policies which ensure patient confidentiality
* PATIENT CARE - Provide crisis intervention in situations requiring immediate psychological treatment
* DEVELOPMENT - Participate in educational programs, in-service meetings, clinician meetings, and workshops to enhance professional development and maintain currency of methodology and techniques
* COORDINATION - Provides psychological consultations to other mental health professionals within hospitals, clinics, and other community based agencies with regard to clients and/or patient care
* TRAINING - Receives guidance, training, and detailed review of work from licensed clinical psychologists within the unit

Physical Conditions:
Sedentary Work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally (Occasionally: activity or condition exists up to 1/3 of the time) and/or a negligible amount of force frequently (Frequently: activity or condition exists from 1/3 to 2/3 of the time) to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body.
