Position Summary:Responsible for the maintenance, implementation and support of the computer network and network security infrastructure. Manage front-line network technicians, analysts, and engineers. Conduct systems project planning, project design, documentation, training and installation. Coordination of project implementation with vendors and with the managers in IT. Ensures adherence to Hospital, Health Sciences Center, and departmental policies and procedures. No patient care assignment. Accountability:
  • SUPERVISION - Develop efficient organizational structure, supervise employees - select, terminate, train, educate, correct deficiencies, perform appraisals, issue discipline, counsel, schedule work assignments; encourage staff teamwork and growth initiatives

  • COORDINATE - Coordinate infrastructure needs for IT Systems in Facilities projects

  • NEEDS ANALYSIS - Communicate and collaborate with technical and non-technical personnel to understand and define user needs, gather and analyze data and recommend solutions

  • NETWORK - Develop standards for computer and network systems, to include standards for wiring, equipment, network security, and interoperability

  • NETWORK - Ensure that planning documents, network documentation and appropriate pieces of the organizational disaster plans are updated

  • PROJECTS - Provide support, maintenance and administration for assigned IT projects. Prepare and present status reports on assigned projects

  • PROJECTS - Head small to medium sized project teams coordinating progress from start to completion

  • PROJECTS - Manage projects as assigned from start to finish including development of specifications, creation of project plan, tracking and reporting milestones, and product delivery to include collaboration with CLT staff for training and customer support of end-users; may include installation of new vendor-based systems and upgrades to existing systems as well as in-house developed systems

  • SYSTEMS - Ensure that functional or project systems are applied as designed and are in proper operating condition

  • SYSTEMS - Ensure that customers are receiving full benefit of systems

  • STANDARDIZATION - Oversee UNM Hospitals and Health Sciences Center hardware and software standardization efforts as appropriate and assigned

  • PROCEDURE - Conduct the development, creation, maintaining and updating functional operating manuals and contingency plans outlining established methods of performing work in accordance with UNM Hospitals organizational policy

  • TESTING - Research and test leading edge systems technologies

  • BUDGET - Assist in the management of budgets for the responsible area

  • DEVELOPMENT - Enhance professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, reading current literature, attending in-services, meetings and workshops

  • Education Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in IT related discipline

  • Experience Requirements:
  • 5 years directly related experience

  • Education Requirements - Preferred:
  • Master's Degree in related discipline

  • Physical Demands Requirements:
  • Medium Work: Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.
