Position Summary:
Manage opportunities for cost containment/savings related to improved product, service and process standardization and utilization by appropriately assisting in the selection, evaluation, monitoring, analysis and implementation of cost-effective products, services and processes in the healthcare system, which may include but not be limited to the hospital, clinic(s), network, and/or healthcare system. Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with medical and healthcare system staff to ensure effective, results-oriented project outcomes, including implementation of Vizient, and/or other pertinent benchmarking findings, technology assessments and other initiatives. Ensures adherence to Hospital and Departmental Policies and Procedures. No patient care assignment.

Detailed responsibilities:
* ANALYSIS - Push clinical and strategic expertise that facilitates supply, device, and other service expense management while continuously improving process that support safe patient care, education and research
* COMPLIANCE - Design, implement and ensure compliance with protocols for the optimal, standardized use of selected products, services and processes in collaboration with appropriate department managers
* COORDINATE - Interact with all appropriate department managers to develop, coordinate, and integrate cost management programs into departmental services by assisting with program development, data collection, analysis, implementation, monitoring, and follow-up
* COMPLIANCE - Collaborate with departments to monitor and report on compliance of implemented changes in products, services and processes
* ANALYSIS - Monitor and report hospital/system-wide value analysis related cost reductions to administration and department managers
* ANALYSIS - Utilize UHC information to assist in the identification and implementation of product, service and process related cost-savings measures, including but not limited to UHC databases, purchasing processes, benchmarking and technology assessments
* DATA - Manage value analysis and financial data for quantitative/qualitative assessment and outcome documentation
* COORDINATION - Actively engage physicians and other clinicians in value-based variation reduction related to clinical practice, products, devices and supplies
* ANALYSIS - Prepare recommendations to administration for systems, procedures or practices that will reduce product, service and process related expenditures
* ANALYSIS - Perform cost-benefit, cost-effectiveness, cost-minimization and cost-efficiency analysis, verifying accuracy and completeness of all cost analyses that may impact product, service and process related expenditures
* QUALITY - Work with appropriate department managers to investigate, monitor, and report on product, service, and process failures
* ANALYSIS - Attend and participate in UHC Value Analysis related activities
* QUALITY - Achieve supply expense management initiatives and targets utilizing the value analysis process
* COORDINATION - Coordinate product, service, and process related value analysis projects between administration and medical and healthcare system staff as the representative of administration
* EDUCATION - Coordinate and assist educational processes regarding value analysis process
* SURVEY - Conduct in-depth statistical analyses of primary survey data using statistical and other software
* REPORTS - Interpret and report the findings via written reports or oral presentation
* REPRESENT - Represent Materials Management on all designated committees to analyze potential products, services and processes
* COMMITTEES - Participate as a member, chair, co-chair, or ad hoc member of hospital/system committees or sub-committees as a representative of Materials Management
* SUPERVISION - Develop efficient organizational structure, supervise employees - select, terminate, train, educate, correct deficiencies, perform appraisals, issue discipline, counsel, schedule work assignments; encourage staff teamwork and growth initiatives

Physical Conditions:
Light Work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly (Constantly: activity or condition exists 2/3 or more of the time) to move objects. Physical demand requirements are in excess of those for Sedentary Work. May require walking or standing to a significant degree or requires sitting most of the time but entails pushing and/or pulling of arm or leg controls; and/or may require working at a production rate pace entailing the constant pushing and/or pulling of materials even though the weight of materials is negligible.
