Position Summary:Perform a variety of mechanical engineering inspection duties as determined by assignment. Validate that construction of each project is in compliance with the contract documents. Ensure adherence to Hospitals and department policies and procedures. No patient care assignment.Accountability:
  • ARCHITECTURE - Serve as a consultant on mechanical, mechanical, and architectural coordination and design matters, including code compliance, special needs accessibility and fire safety considerations

  • ENGINEER - Serve as consultant and designer of mechanical and electrical matters, including code regulations, special needs accessibility, and fire safety considerations. Proficient with mechanical or electrical calculations for sizing system component

  • COMPLIANCE - Ensure project operations are in compliance with design specifications and University, state, and federal policies and regulations

  • COMPLIANCE - Participate in compliance meetings as requested

  • CONSTRUCTION - Observe each phase of construction of a project; inspect as appropriate

  • CONSTRUCTION - Oversee all aspects of the day-to-day management of construction projects; monitor and coordinate work performed by architectural, engineering, and construction firms, as well as institutional, state, and local entities

  • CONSTRUCTION - Provide construction administration or construction oversight, monitoring site safety procedures and quality of work, resolving and reporting any issues immediately; ensure contractor compliance with contract

  • CONTRACT - Maintain a detailed knowledge of each project contract documents

  • OBSERVATIONS - Record observations daily noting acceptable and unacceptable work; report unacceptable work to the designated representative immediately

  • REPORTS - Research and prepare various reports pertaining to operations, equipment, policies, procedures, and/or other issues as appropriate

  • REPORTS - Prepare periodic reports for superior or others as needed/assigned

  • DEVELOPMENT - Enhance professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, reading current literature, attending in-services, meetings and workshops

  • Education Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in related discipline

  • Experience Requirements:
  • 5 years directly related experience

  • Licensure/Certification Requirements:
  • Registered Professional Engineer (PE)

  • Experience Requirements - Preferred:
  • 7 years directly related experience

  • Physical Demands Requirements:
  • Medium Work: Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.

  • Working Conditions Requirements:
  • Med Haz: Dirt, dust, fumes, odors, bad weather, noise

  • May be required to work on ladders or scaffolding
